Composer and conceptual artist Conrad Schnitzler (1937-2011) was one of the most influential figures of the electronic avant-garde in Germany. In 1967/68, the Joseph Beuys student founded the Zodiak Free Arts Lab, which became a playground for Berlin subculture. In addition to numerous solo releases Schnitzler was also involved in various band formations not least Tangerine Dream and Kluster. Representing another of his musical landmarks are the ‘Consequenz’ releases. 'Consequenz II’ emerged from a collaboration with Wolfgang Seidel alias Wolf Sequenza, and is the follow up project to ‘Consequenz’ which was a low-budget production that had an overriding aim of liberating music from its elitist circles in a 'Beuys-ian’ sense. ‘Consequenz II’ returned to the theme with electronic apparatus that professionalised the sound but by no means reduced the fun he found in experimentation.

What a great piece of music! The first few minutes of the piece I thought this might be an interpretation of Tangerine Dream's "Atem". Quite in the tradition of "Krauttronica" ;-) But it's not; it's a commissioned composition for a Dutch festival in 2021. Holger Czukay helps on track 1, whilst Asmus Tietchens and Okko Bekker collaborate on track 8. 9 miniature worlds, soundtracks for films yet to be filmed, so delicate and delicious that they can be heard on loop. This is a top-notch album! ★ I want my collection sorted!!! ★

[Bureau B Subscription 008] [2020.04.17] [4 trs.] [45m18s] Now this is serious stuff. There aren't many albums like this one, so well crafted, with a great equilibrium between two evocative instrumental tracks (1 & 3) and two mesmerizing songs (2 & 4). All works like a charm! Solid and nuanced work, plenty of kosmische beauty and ambient, kraut splendor. Beware with the impressive Himmelfahrten piece, it's very addictive!!! Bravo! ★ I want my collection sorted!!! ★
